508 compliant, W3C compliant, XHTML transitional, and soon to be voice compliant.
This site is the online presence of The Department of Art Education at The Ohio State University. It complies with the standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium, and is driven by XHTML, CSS, PHP. Virtually all features of the site should work well in most current browsers: Explorer 6 for Windows, Explorer for Mac OX, Safari for Mac, and Netscape 6 and beyond. The purpose of the site is to deliver information about The Department to the public, and to provide department members with department resources at remote locations. Within the site is an expanding Department Intranet, which is accessible only by password. If you are Associated with the Department of Art Education and cannot access any of the resources on the Intranet, please alert the webmaster for assistance.
In June 2004, The University mandated that all web resources be compliant with the 508 accessibility requirements, and the site was modified, retaining as much of the original site as possible. With these modifications, users of text-driven voice- and Braille-software will find this site useful and free of most obstruction. This Web site is prepared to accommodate future innovations in voice media, and the browsers in hand-held computers and cell phones, and shared data.
The drop-down menu that appears on almost every page was adapted from a menu written by Dave Lindquist. Advice and feedback was helpful in forming the appearance and the structure of the site. Questions about this site may be addressed to the webmaster.
