
Biography:
As a lecturer in the University’s Department of Art Education, he is working with other faculty members to create a graduate area of concentration in museum education. As a practicing artist, he explores the relationship between architecture and two-dimensional design, and has shown his work most recently at the Acme Art Company in Columbus.
His experience in art and museum education spans more than twenty-five years, including twelve years as Dalton Lecturer at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, combined with five years as an adjunct instructor of museum studies for New York University; four years in Italy and Austria, where he founded an aesthetic education program for children; six years as chairman of museum education at the Toledo Museum of Art; and three years as artistic director of the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio. He received his BA in art from the University of Maryland, MFA from George Washington University, and PhD in art and museum education from New York University.
His research interests include artistic practice as learning process, interdisciplinary curriculum development, and the social context for learning.
