
Biography:
Dr. Stout has a Ph. D. and an MA. Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Missouri. She also holds an undergraduate degree in Language and Literature from Florida State University. Her teaching and research interests are as follows: issues in contemporary qualitative research; feminist art criticism; critical pedagogy and multicultural education. Her studio focus is photography. She has written two books: The Flower Teachers: Stories for a New Generation (2002, National Art Education Association Press) and Critical Thinking and Writing in Art (1995, West Educational Publishing) and has published in academic journals such as Studies in Art Education, the Journal of Art Education, Visual Arts Research, The Journal of Multicultural and Cross-cultural Research in Art Education, The Elementary School Journal, NEA Today, the Journal of Teacher Education and The Journal of Thought. She is Co-Editor of Studies in Art Education and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for The Journal of Cultural Research in Art Education.
