Master of Arts in Art Education
The MA program in Art Education gives students the opportunity to gain the
knowledge and skills necessary to be reflective and well-informed art educators.
The program consists of a coherent pattern of courses and other experiences,
either a research thesis or a final project, and an oral examination.
Students develop their program of study in consultation with a faculty advisor.
It must include a reasonable concentration in a single area or in related
academic areas, be approved by the advisor, and be within the rules of the
Graduate Studies Committee and the Graduate School.
The MA program requirements are:
- Successful completion of 60 credit hours of study, including a focus
on a single aspect of the field.
- Completion of a minimum residence of three (3) quarters of full or
part-time study. At least one quarter of full-time residence is strongly
advised.
- Maintenance of a greater than 3.0 grade point average in all graduate
credit and in all work included in the program of study.
- Satisfactory completion of a thesis or a final project with the supervision
of two faculty advisors.
- Satisfactory completion of an oral defense of a thesis or final project.
