Museum Education and Administration
Graduate Program Specialization
The Museum Education and Administration graduate program specialization is available to students in the M.A. Art Ed, M.A. Arts Policy and Administration, and Ph.D. programs.
Candidates for the specialization need to demonstrate prior knowledge
in art education, art, art history, aesthetics, and art criticism.
There is no specified sequence for the required courses, although it is suggested
that the Museum Education practicum and internship would come in the latter
half of the student's program.
The Museum Education and Administration program requirements are:
- Successful completion of the program of study.
- Completion of a minimum residence of three (3) quarters of full or part-time
study. At least one quarter of full-time residence is strongly advised.
- Maintenance of a greater than 3.0 grade point average in all graduate
credit and in all work included in the program of study.
- Satisfactory completion of a research thesis or final project with the supervision of two
faculty advisors.
- Satisfactory completion of an oral defense of the thesis or final project.
- Satisfactory completion of all of the above within a period of 6 calendar
years after admission.
